Several local events planned for MLK Week

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas has long honored the life & accomplishments of Martin Luther King Jr., & this year an whole entire week will be devoted to celebrations marking his legacy.

On Sunday, Jan. 19, the West Las Vegas NV Library will host Peace Week, with a focus on the life, legacy & contributions of King. A film & slideshow presentation will begin at 2 p.m. followed by a presentation showcase, Youth Who Dare to Dream, at 3 p.m.  For information, call 702-507-3989.

On Monday, Las Vegas NV will host the 32nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade. The parade is held downtown & starts at 10 a.m.

Also on Monday, Edmond Town Center, located at 931 W Owens Ave. in Las Vegas, will host MLK Dream Fest. The event will contain family train rides, carnival games, face painting, guests & speakers, live entertainment & food. For more information, call 702-858-4398.

On Saturday, Jan. 25, Pearson Community Center, located at 1625 W Carey Ave. in North Las Vegas, will host a breakfast with a focus on  King at 9 a.m. For more information, call 702-769-9846.
