Fellow musicians are mourning the lack of rock icon Tom Petty with an outpouring of moving tributes on social media.
The singer suffered a heart attack Sun. at his home in Malibu, Calif., & was transferred to UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, where he was on life support until he died on Mon. night at age 66.
“On behalf of the Tom Petty family we’re devastated to announce the premature death of our father, husband, brother, leader & acceptable mate, pal Tom Petty,” his longtime supervisor Tony Dimitriades stated in a press release.
“He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu within the early hours of this morning & was taken to UCLA Medical Center still couldn’t be revived.”
He died peacefully at eight:40 p.m. local time surrounded by family, his bandmates & buddies.
Bob Dylan led the tributes, calling his death “surprising, crushing news source” in a press release to Rolling Stone magazine on Mon..
