DaBaby‘s brother has sadly died at 34.
Glenn Johnson, the older brother of the 28-year-old rapper, passed away after sustaining a gunshot wound, police confirmed to Billboard on Wednesday (November 4).
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department of North Carolina said in a statement that police officers responded to a call on Tuesday (Nov. 3) at about 1:39 p.m. regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. When they arrived, police found a male, identified as Glenn, who “sustained a gunshot wound.” He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“This incident is currently classified as a death investigation,” the police said in the statement.
The Mecklenburg Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that body is with their office, via Billboard.
DaBaby updated his Instagram bio to read “LONG LIVE BY BROTHER” and quoted a line in his Instagram Story about his brother from his song, “Intro.”
“My brother be thinkin’ that we don’t love him and let him struggle like we ain’t family / Like I won’t give up all I got to see you happy,” he declares in the song.
“I would’ve gave up all I had to see you happy,” he wrote. He also posted a video urging his followers to “check on your people.”
