Alaska Air Group Announces Proposed Senior Secured Notes Offering


SEATTLE, Sept. 30, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Alaska Air Group, Inc. (the “Company“) today announced that it has launched a private offering (the “Offering“) of senior secured notes due 2029 and senior secured notes due 2031 (together, the “Notes“) by AS Mileage Plan IP Ltd. (“Loyalty Issuer“), an exempted company incorporated with limited liability under the laws of the Cayman Islands and an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company.

The Notes will be (i) fully and unconditionally guaranteed on a senior secured basis, jointly and severally, by Alaska Airlines, Inc. (“Alaska“) and AS Mileage Plan Holdings Ltd. and on an unsecured basis by the Company (together, the “Guarantors“) and (ii) secured, on a senior, first-priority basis by the Guarantors’ (other than the Company) right, title and interest in certain collateral associated with Alaska’s customer loyalty program, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan™.

Loyalty Issuer intends to use the net proceeds received from the Offering, together with borrowings under a loyalty term loan facility, in each case, after deducting fees and expenses payable by the Company, (i) to fund the reserve account for the Notes and the loyalty term loan facility and (ii) to fund a collection account, and the proceeds deposited into the collection account will be used to make an intercompany loan to Alaska on the closing date of the Offering (the “Intercompany Loan“). Alaska intends to use the proceeds from the Intercompany Loan (i) to redeem certain outstanding debt acquired or assumed in the merger of the Company with Hawaiian Airlines pursuant to the Agreement and Plan of Merger dated as of December 2, 2023, including to redeem Hawaiian’s 11.000% senior secured notes due 2029 at par and its 5.750% senior secured notes due 2026, and (ii) for general corporate purposes and to support its liquidity position.

United Expands Economy Cabin Wine Offerings with Debut of New Rosé


New options from women-owned brands Just Enough Wines and Maker Wine start October 1 and include new rosé and exclusive-to-United brut bubbles, complementing traditional red and white choices

CHICAGO, Sept. 30, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — United today unveiled its new domestic economy cabin wine list that expands the choices for customers, including a new rosé option and a brut bubbles wine available exclusively onboard United flights. Starting October 1, passengers can enjoy high-quality canned wines from women-owned brands Just Enough Wines and Maker Wine.

According to United, the airline has served more than 20 million glasses of wine system-wide so far this year – that’s 1.5 times the number of servings for beer or spirits – and more than 3.2 million glasses of wine in domestic economy alone.

“Our new economy wine list is giving travelers more variety and better quality,” said Aaron McMillan, United’s Managing Director of Hospitality Programs. “After the overwhelmingly positive response to the addition of rosé in United Polaris® business class, and ongoing fanfare for sparkling options, we’re thrilled to now offer rosé and a higher quality brut bubbles option for our economy passengers, delivering a more premium experience onboard.”

Now, United’s domestic economy passengers will be able to choose from four different wine varietals onboard, each available in a 250 milliliter can – comparable to about a glass and a half of wine – and served with a cup for sipping. Available to purchase on every mainline flight for $12, the wines include:

  • Just Enough Wines Rosé – A dry, crisp rosé from the California Central Coast features a refreshing flavor profile with notes of watermelon and guava and is balanced by a refreshing minerality.
  • Maker Brut Bubbles – An aromatic sparkling white from the California Central Coast with bright citrus, white flowers and stone fruit notes and a crisp minerality. This 2023 vintage is crafted by Nicole Walsh, an award-winning producer in Santa Cruz who has been featured in Wine Enthusiast, Forbes and The San Francisco Chronicle.
  • Just Enough Wines Cabernet Sauvignon – A full-bodied cabernet sauvignon from the California Central Coast features a vibrant and rich flavor profile of bright cherries, vanilla and sandalwood.
  • Just Enough Wines Chardonnay – A medium-bodied chardonnay from the California Central Coast features a bright flavor profile with notes of melon, honeysuckle and toasted brioche.

British Vlogger Explores the Unique Culture of Dunhuang, Gansu

Co dělá Čína pro zachování, předávání a sdílení své kultury?


PEKING, 27. září 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Fan Zaixuan, odborník na restaurování nástěnných maleb, si stále živě pamatuje okamžik, kdy v noci 31. března 1981 poprvé dorazil k jeskyním Mo-kao ve městě Tun-chuang.

„Slyšel jsem jen zvuk větrné zvonkohry z devítipatrové budovy, který byl velmi tajemný. Byl jsem tak vzrušený, že jsem celou noc nespal”.

Jeskyně Mo-kao jsou největším a nejzachovalejším nalezištěm buddhistického jeskynního umění na světě. 735 jeskyní se rozprostírá na 1700 metrů dlouhé skalní stěně a obsahuje přes 45.000 metrů čtverečních nástěnných maleb a více než 2000 polychromovaných soch.

Fan, kterému je nyní 60 let, pracuje na restaurování nástěnných maleb v jeskyních Mo-kao již více než 40 let. „Zatím jsem zrestauroval plochu, která je pravděpodobně stejně veliká jako velká jeskyně v Mo-kao,” řekl pro CGTN.

Fan ví lépe než kdokoli jiný, že restaurování starobylých uměleckých děl vyžaduje nepřetržitou a pečlivou práci z generace na generaci. Své dovednosti rozvíjel za pomoci starších restaurátorů, jako je Li Yunhe, který se nachází ve svém desátém desetiletí.

Dai Chuan, jeden z Fanových studentů, se narodil v 90. letech 20. století. Již více než deset let se věnuje ochraně nástěnných maleb v jeskyních Mo-kao. „Jsem také ochoten učinit z dědictví tungchuangské kultury své celoživotní úsilí,” řekl Dai odhodlaně.

Čínský prezident Si Ťin-pching učinil z jeskyní Mo-kao první zastávku na své inspekční cestě v severozápadní čínské provincii Kan-su v srpnu 2019.

Tungchuangskou kulturu označil za „zářivou perlu v dlouhé řece světové civilizace a cenný historický materiál pro studium politiky, hospodářství, vojenství, kultury a umění různých etnických skupin ve starověké Číně”.

Do konce roku 2022 akademie sestavila sbírku digitálních dat o 278 jeskyních, zpracovala obrazový materiál pro 164 z nich a provedla 3D rekonstrukci 145 malovaných soch a sedmi zřícenin a zároveň dodala panoramatický prohlídkový program pro 162 jeskyní.

„Zachování kořenů”

Staré čínské přísloví říká: „Všechny věci na světě mají své zákony pro přežití a rozvoj, ale vědí, jak uchovat své kořeny.”

Prezident Si tento názor zopakoval a často zdůrazňoval význam ochrany kulturního dědictví. Je přesvědčen, že dlouhověkost čínské civilizace je dána právě tímto základním pochopením jejích kořenů. „Díky tomuto smyslu pro kořeny se čínská civilizace rozvíjí a vzkvétá dodnes.”

V posledním desetiletí Čína posílila své systémy a politiky ochrany kulturního dědictví.

 „Ke konci roku 2021 bylo v Číně 108 milionů souborů státem vlastněných movitých kulturních památek a přibližně 767.000 nemovitých.

Na seznamu světového dědictví UNESCO má Čína k dnešnímu dni zapsaných 59 památek, což ji řadí na druhé místo na světě. Na seznamu nehmotného kulturního dědictví UNESCO má 43 položek, což z ní činí zemi s největším počtem zápisů na světě.

Z iniciativy Číny, k níž se připojilo více než 20 asijských zemí, byla v roce 2023 založena Aliance pro kulturní dědictví v Asii (ACHA), která klade důraz na podporu spolupráce při zachování asijského kulturního dědictví a na dědictví a rozvoj asijských civilizací v různých podobách.

V rámci ACHA se Čína zapojila do 33 společných archeologických projektů v 19 asijských zemích a podílela se na projektech zachování 11 historických památek v šesti asijských zemích.

Zřízení ACHA je významnou součástí globální civilizační iniciativy navržené prezidentem Si, která vyzývá k respektování rozmanitosti civilizací, prosazování společných hodnot lidstva, oceňování dědictví a inovací civilizací a posilování mezinárodní výměny a spolupráce mezi lidmi.

V průběhu let se Čína dále angažovala a podnikala konkrétní kroky k harmonickému soužití různých civilizací ve světě. Země podepsala dohody o spolupráci se 157 zeměmi v oblasti kultury, kulturního dědictví a cestovního ruchu.
