Azul Entrusts Viasat to Deliver Advanced In-Flight Connectivity to Airbus A330-900neo Fleet

SÃO PAULO and CARLSBAD, Calif., Aug. 20, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Azul, the largest airline in Brazil by number of departures and cities served, and Viasat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT), a global leader in satellite communications, today announced that seven aircraft in Azul’s new Airbus A330-900neo fleet will be equipped with Viasat’s trusted Ka-band in-flight connectivity solution, with the first aircraft scheduled to enter service next year.

Consistent with the in-flight Wi-Fi offering on Azul’s other aircraft types equipped with Viasat’s solution, Azul passengers traveling on the new, linefit Airbus A330-900neos will be able to enjoy onboard internet from gate to gate. Customers will be able to acquire packages for streaming audio and video, web browsing, and messaging.

“Part of what differentiates Azul in the Brazilian market is the best-in-class connectivity experience we offer on select aircraft,” said Jason Ward, Azul’s Chief People and Customer Officer. “From Brazilians’ thirst for real time sports scores to their desire to stay connected to loved ones on the ground while flying, our hypothesis that this feature would be critical to customer satisfaction is playing out in the market. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Viasat as we continue to build on our current in-flight Wi-Fi experience in the future.”

“After several successful years of serving Azul passengers in Brazil, we are excited to work with Azul to expand our connectivity onboard even more aircraft,” said Don Buchman, VP and GM, Commercial Aviation at Viasat. “It remains Viasat’s mission to continue delivering high quality and consistent in-flight Wi-Fi, so that passengers can enjoy online activities while in the air as they do on the ground, even as the demand for data grows and passenger expectations accelerate rapidly.”

In addition to expanding their Wi-Fi enabled fleet, Azul is working with Viasat to enhance their passenger Wi-Fi experience by adding ad-supported streaming sessions using the Viasat Advertising platform. Azul is the latest airline to adopt the Viasat Advertising platform.

Viasat is focused on serving the aviation market by combining high throughout satellite capacity with the ability to flex that capacity, so that it can continuously and reliably meet demand where and when it is most concentrated, including over the busiest airport hubs in Brazil and everywhere else these Airbus A330neos will fly.

Azul and Viasat are expanding upon a collaboration that began providing in-flight connectivity in Brazil in 2021. Azul was the first South American airline to select Viasat’s in-flight internet service and the first airline to offer free in-flight Wi-Fi service to passengers in South America, leveraging the capacity on Viasat’s Ka-band network, including its partner satellite, SGDC-1 (Geostationary Satellite for Defense and Strategic Communications), owned by Telebras.

Segment Highlights

Travelers have access to a wide range of options across the globe due to surge in the vacation rental industry for homes. There is accommodation available to cater to every preference and financial plan, ranging from luxurious villas offering breathtaking sea views to charming cabins settled in the serene woods. Homeowners use platforms such as Airbnb, VRBO, and Booking.com to market their properties and interact with prospective guests interested in renting for a short period of time. These online platforms provide an effective way for homeowners to connect with a wide range of travelers who are in search of accommodation for various purposes, including holidays, business trips, or any other personal reasons. The demand for vacation rentals shows no indications of slowing down, indicating continuous expansion in the sector as travelers seek privacy, space, and immersion in the local culture increasingly.

Customers seeking mid-range vacation rental, prioritizing affordability and quality to take services. Properties usually provide cozy comforts and contemporary conveniences without the premium price tag. These rentals frequently provide dependable Wi-Fi, comfortable living areas, and well-equipped kitchens. Having a strategic location near popular attractions or scenic spots is highly advantageous for businesses. It attracts the target audience and enhances their overall satisfaction. Usually ranging from $100 to $300 per night, pricing considers the property’s characteristics, location, and seasonal demand. Excellent customer service and individualized touches make rental stand out in this competitive market and encourage repeat business.

Direct reservations in the vacation rental sector provide several benefits for both hosts and guests. Several factors drive the substantial expansion of the vacation rental market in various countries and regions. The popularity of short-term rentals in North America has increased due to emergence of places such as Airbnb and Vrbo, which attract business and leisure tourists looking for distinctive lodging. The rich cultural legacy of Europe and rise in demand for genuine travel experiences drive the continent’s rapid expansion. Growth in travel and the middle class in Asia-Pacific are driving up demand, particularly in well-known travel destinations such as Thailand, Australia, and Japan. The natural beauty of Latin America and its developing tourism infrastructure are driving the region’s economic growth. These developments are accompanied by digital platforms and evolving travel habits and show a global trend toward customized, adaptable housing alternatives.

Can–Am Origin 2025

Can-Am Sets its Sights on Becoming a Global Electric Motorcycle Leader with Launch of Can-Am Pulse and Origin

“Today, we are reclaiming our two-wheel heritage by bringing new excitement to the electric motorcycle industry,” said José Boisjoli, President and CEO of BRP. “50 years ago, Can-Am celebrated many victories with its Track ‘n Trail motorcycles, and we are bringing that pedigree back with a focus on modern electric power, connectivity and thrill. We intend to become a global leader in that space with true innovation designed to simplify the riding experience for new riders and introduce electric motorcycles to all.”

The Can-Am Pulse and Origin models redefine the ride and awaken the energy in every rider, whether in the city or off the beaten path. Each is driven by an all-new Rotax E-Power power unit (11 kW or 35 kW) – BRP’s proprietary electric technology – which delivers instant torque on demand, merging pulsating performance with style and sophistication.

A key feature of the Can-Am motorcycle lineup that sets it apart is an innovative liquid-cooled system, which includes the battery, charger, inverter, and motor. The system significantly limits battery degradation over time while simultaneously optimizing range and charge time. In fact, riders will experience quick and efficient charging each and every time and in any condition – from 20% to 80% in 50 minutes – using Level 2 charging at home or at automotive charging stations.

2025 Can-Am Pulse

The Can-Am Pulse is crafted for the energy of city life. An agile and nimble naked motorcycle designed for smart commuters and urban explorers, it features a massive 10.25-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay, allowing riders to navigate with ease and stay connected to each ride with the BRP GO! App. It also has a unique feature, an Active ReGen system that provides enhanced control and smooth deceleration while giving more power back to the battery.

The Can-Am Pulse stands balanced with a low center of gravity and ride height, and presents a comfortable yet assertive riding position, maximizing agility in an active urban environment. Four riding modes – Normal, Sport+, ECO and Rain – allow it to adapt to different environments and rider preferences, while KYB suspension with 140mm of travel at the forks keep it planted with a sportier feel. The optional “Pulse 73” trim – a tribute to Can-Am’s motorcycling past – adds LED lighting, LinQ gauge spoiler, and signature paint and badging.

2025 Can-Am Origin

The Can-Am Origin is engineered for adventure beyond city limits. It boasts the same Active ReGen and connective technology as the Pulse, and wields unmistakable Can-Am DNA and motocross heritage with all-terrain readiness, enhanced suspension, and dual sport tires. “Cruise demand continues to be strong, with travelers overwhelmingly reporting that they have one or more cruises booked for 2024 or 2025. Many are also reporting they intend to make even more bookings for the coming year,” said Jamie Cash, General Manager of Cruiseline.com and Shipmate. “This strong demand reflects the adventure, relaxation, and freedom that cruise vacations offer. While many of our community members intend to take longer cruises, the interest in shorter sailings is gaining traction as travelers seek quick getaways with lower costs. The Caribbean remains the top destination choice for travelers, with rising interest in European cruises for the upcoming year as well.”

It adds an Off-Road riding mode, and its high ground clearance and full KYB suspension with 255mm of travel up front and adjustability in the rear inspire confidence off the beaten path and firm planting on paved roadways. The Can-Am Origin offers six riding modes: Normal, Sport, ECO, Rain, Off-Road and Off-Road+.

Simply put, the adventure-packed Can-Am Origin brings new exhilaration to both the street and the trail with a modern, multi-terrain capability. An optional “Origin 73” trim adds LED lighting, LinQ windscreen, and signature paint and badging.

Both the Can-Am Pulse and Origin come standard with a durable 8.9 kWh battery that has been battle-tested in scorching desert heat and cold winter temperatures. The system powers the Can-Am Pulse to an estimated city range of up to 160 km (100 miles), and the Can-Am Origin to an estimated city range of up to 145 km (90 miles).

The Can-Am Pulse and Origin are built to be easy to use and easy to ride for new and seasoned riders alike.
